MBA Exam

Hey!! guys.. please help me understand this Q.Q. Find the remainder when [{(300)^3000} -1] is divided by 1001.Now, the problem is.. I tried to approach the Q. by Remainder Theorem but to no avail. I couldnt solve by it. The solution is given by expressing every thing in terms of mod. I guess I have never learnt the mod approach of solving problems and may be I am sort of not wanting to learn a different approach apart from the regular one.. Please if you can help me understand the "mod" way in remainders and how to solve it by the Remainder Theorem.
