- Lets consider that 8 litre Oil is in 8 litre can. Now both Hari and Ram need to have 4 litre of oil each.
Step1: Fill 5 litre can from 8 litre can. Result 3 litre can empty, 5 litre can full and 8 litre can remains with 3 litre oil.
Step2: Fill 3 litre can from 5 litre can. Result is, 3 litre can full, 5 litre remains with 2 litre oil and 8 litre can still remain with 3 litre oil.
Step3: Fill 8 litre can from 3 litre can. Result, 3 litre can empty, 5 litre still has 2 litre oil and 8 litre can has 6 litre oil now.
Step4: Fill 3 litre can from 5 litre can which has 2 litre oil remaining. Result, 3 litre can will have 2 litre oil, 5 litre can empty and 8 litre can still have 6 litre oil.
Step5: Fill 5 litre can from 8 litre can. Result, 3 litre still has 2 litre oil, 5 litre can will be full, 8 litre can will remain with 1 litre oil.
Step6: Fill 3 litre can from 5 litre can so 3 litre can will only accomodate 1 litre oil as it already have 2 litre oil. Result, 3 litre can will be full, 5 litre can will have 4 litre oil, 8 litre can will have 1 litre oil left.
Step7: Fill 8 litre can from 3 litre can. Result, 3 litre can empty, 5 litre can have 4 litre oil and 8 litre can has 4 litre oil. - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
