A restaurant has priced camera at 95 Rs. Now it reduces its price by 20% so that it earns 60% more. Now, what is the percentage increase in consumption of camera?
(A) 100%
(B) 10%
(C) 90%
(D) 50%
Read Solution (Total 6)
-
- initial price=95
Reduced by 20%= So New price will be =95-95*20/100=76
Now He is saying that he want to earn 60 % profit:
So in order to earn 60% early he has to sold the camera at = 95 +(95*60/100) =152
Now if we will compare the reduce price which is 76 from the price to which we have to sold 152 We will get the difference of rs. 76(152-76).
Percentage=(76/76)*100;
Ans :-100% - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(8) No(0)
- Price was 95 now restaurant had to earn 60% more so it will be 95+57 =152.
Reduced price will be 76 so to earn 152 restaurant has to sell 2 cameras. The answer will be 100%. - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(6) No(0)
- 100% as
20% less of 95=76
60% profit of 95=152
so 152-76=76
i.e 100% of 76% - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(2)
- Hi Jatin,
How to you calculated percentage increase in consumption as 100%.
I understood answer you have given except last statement i.e. “The answer will be 100%.” as you have mentioned in answer. - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- 100 is ans

- Selling price of camera is 95 ==> sp1 = 95
Reducing price by 20% which makes it 76 ==> sp2 = 76
Now,
Since cost price is not given we can assume it to be zero (the question does not say anything about the cost price, hence assuming a value would not make any difference to the anwer - just make sure there is a positive gain)
So profit1 = p1 = 95 - 0
profit2 = p2 = 76 - 0
Total gain on selling k1 items with sp1 = k1*95
Again we can assume k1 is 1
so gain is 95
On selling k2 items with sp2 = k2*76
(Total gain in case 2 - total gain in case 1) / total gain in case 1 = 6 / 10 [given]
(76x - 95) / 95 = 6 / 10
it comes to
76x = 152
x = 2
Hence increase in consumption is (2 - 1)/1 * 100% = 100% - 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
