Ram & Shyam started from a point X and Y respectively and started moving towards each other. After they met Ram took 4 hours to reach Y and Shyam took 16 hours to reach X. Ram’s speed is 48 kmph. What is the speed of Shyam?

  Ratio of speed of Ram and Shyam = Square root of (Time taken by Shyam to Reach X after they meet / Time taken by Ram to Reach Y after they meet)

• It's is clearly given that shyam taken 16hrs to reach X from y ,X speed is given that is 48kmph ,time taken to cover distance by X is 4hrs given in question, Distance=speed * time .distance=(48*4)=192.
  Distance=192km.now we know the distance ,we have to find shyam speed,so speed = distance/time
  Speed=(192/16)=12.
  So shyam speed=12kmph.

  As it is 192 km for ram from x to y [ d=s*t therefore d = 48kmph * 4h = 192km ]
  
  so the distance will be remain same for shyam, whatever be the speed or time
  
  as for shyam if speed is a). 24 kmph then d=s*t therefore d = 24kmph * 16hr = 384km != 192km
  
  b). 56 kmph then d=s*t therefore d = 56kmph * 16hr = 896km != 192km

  which gives us

  hence the speed at which Shyam should be travelling is 12kmph

  then,
  now shyam time is 16 hrs so,
  divide 192/16
  and the answer is 12 kmph
