An apple costs Rs. 20. An orange costs Rs. 5. A banana costs Rs. 4. In a basket there are 30 fruits of which 6 are apples and the remaining are oranges and bananas. The total cost of the fruits in the basket is Rs. 230. How many oranges are there in the basket?

  so remaining bananas is 30-x-6=24-x
  now equation is 5*x+(24-x)*4=230-120
  so x=14 oranges

  we know that x=6

  the total cost of all fruit is
  20x+sy+4z=230
  we know that x=6
  so,
  5y+4z=230-120
  5y+4z=110 -----------------------(ii)
  solve equation i and ii you will get

  cost of 6 apples=6*20
  cost of x oranges=5x
  cost of y bananas =4y
  total cost of fruits=230 Rs.
  There are 30 fruits into the basket
  Therefore,form the equation
  20*6+ 5x +4y=230 =>5x+4y=110
  and
  6+x+y=30 =>x+y=24
  by solving these equations we get ,

  and y=10
  so the answer is 14 for oranges

  Apples= 20 *6=120.
  120+5*orange+4*banana =230
  5*orange+4*banana=110.-----(2)
  Now , Substituting Eq.1 in Eq 2:
  5*(24-banana) + 4*banana=110
  120-1 banana=110
  -1 banana=-10
  banana =10;
  Substituting the value of banana in Eq.1 :
  so, the no. of oranges=24-10= 14.
