raju and siddhu started from two towns on a river towards each other. they crossed to reach their respective destinations and then, they turned back to meet each other. if the distance between two towns is 30 km, both raju and siddhu travel at 5km/h and speed of the river is 1 km/h. find the total time taken by them to meet for the second time
Read Solution (Total 1)
-
Raju -----speed of river1km/hr-------> Siddhu
for the first time:
t=30/(5+1) t=30/(5-1)
t=5hr t=7.5hr
now raju will reach other other end in 5 hr and siddhu will take 7.5hr to reach other end.
now in the remaining 2.5hrs raju will turn back and will cover a distance of 10km as his speed will be 4km/hr now (against the flow).
so when siddhu will turn back from othe end the distance remaining between the is 20 km.
now let the distance covered by siddhu be x in t hrs so raju will cover (20-x) distance in the same time t, As they both are meeting at t hrs, so
x/6=(20-x)/4
so x= 12
so siddhu will cover 12km in t hrs
now to find t we will use siddhu speed=6km/hr
so 12/6= 2hrs
so total time taken to meet for the second time = 7.5Hrs + 2Hrs
= 9.5Hrs- 6 years agoHelpfull: Yes(14) No(5)
