Time Distance and Speed
Two trains, each 120 m long, moving in opposite directions, cross each other in 12 seconds. If one is moving twice as fast the other, then the speed of the faster train is:
A. 24 B. 60 C. 48 D. 36
Read Solution (Total 1)
-
- Let the speed of the slower train be x m/sec.
Then, speed of the faster train = 2x m/sec.
Relative speed = (x + 2x) m/sec = 3x m/sec.
==> (120 + 120)/12 = 3x
==> x=20/3
==>So, speed of the faster train =40/3m/sec
==> (40/3)*(18/5)
==> 48 km/hr. - 5 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
