A person started on a trip of 20 miles. He started with a certain speed and after covering each mile, he decreased his speed by 25% If he took 8 min 6 sec to cover the 1st 4 miles. Find the time he would take to cover the next 4 miles. 1) 25 min 36 sec 2) 20 min 3) 21 min 30 sec 4) not

- 1) 25 min 36 sec
If initial speed was x,
after 1 mile it will be 3x/4 and
then (3/4)^2 x and so on...
distance will be i mile for each speed.
so time for first mile will be 1/s= T .
then for the second mile it becomes 4T/3 and so on
T+4T/3+(4/3)^2 T+(4/3)^3 T=486 sec .
T = 486*27/175 .
now calculate time taken to cover the next 4 miles. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
