A and B together can complete a work in 20 hours. When A had worked for 5 hours and B had worked for 17 hours, only 3/4th of the total work could be completed. How much time will B alone take to finish the remaining work? ( IN HOURS)

  Let A and B alone can complete the work in 'a' and 'b' hrs respectively, then
  1/a + 1/b = 1/20 —(i) and
  5/a + 17/b = 3/4 —(ii)
  On solving (i) & (ii), a=120, b=24
  So, time taken by B to complete remaining 1/4 work=(1/4)/(1/24)=6 hrs.
