Age Problem
the ratio of ritas age to her mothers age is3:8 the difference of their ages is 35 years the ratio of their ages after 4 years will be
Read Solution (Total 2)
-
- 5:12
Let the present age of Rita=x and her mother=y years, then
Ratio of their age = x/y=3/8 => 8x - 3y = 0 ---(i)
Difference of their age = y - x = 35 ---(ii)
Solving equation (i) & (ii), we get x=21, y=56
So, ratio of their ages after 4 years = (x+4)/(y+4) = (21+4)/(56+4) = 25/60 = 5/12 - 5 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- Let Rita’s age be 3x
Let her mother’s age be 8x
Difference in ages = 35
8x-3x=35
5x=35
x=7
Rita’s age is 21 years
Her mother’s age is 56 years
After 4 years
Her age is 25
Her mother’s age is 60
The ratio of her age to her mother’s age after 4 years will be
5:12 - 4 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
