The people of the land of unsymmetric to ensure that there is very little symmetry in life. Even their unit of length (no one knows what it is) is called as unsym. It is their pride that the front wheel and the rear wheels of their bikes are of different sizes but are made so that they will not slip on the road. In a certain model of bike the radius of the front wheel is 28 unsyms and that of the back wheels is 14 unsyms after driving a certain distance if front wheel had revolution 54 times how many revolution would the back wheel have undergone?
a. 136
b. 122
c. 108
d. 94
Read Solution (Total 8)
-
- Radius of front wheel-28(N)
Revolution of front wheel-58(R)
Radius of back wheel-14(n)
Revolution of back wheel-(r)
nr= NR
r= NR/ n
r=108 - 5 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)
- Circumference of front wheel is twice the circumference of back wheel therefore for every one revolution of front wheel there would be 2 revolution of back wheel.

- let the number of revolution undergone by back wheel is x
since the distance travelled by both the wheels is same
distance = circumference of front wheel * total revolution
distance= 2*22/7*28*54 -------------(1)
same for distance = circumference of back wheel * total revolution
distance= 2*22/7*14*x ------------------(2)
on combining 1 & 2
we get 2*22/7*28*54=2*22/7*14*x

- circumference = 2*pi*n*r
Hence 2*pi*n1*r1 = 2*pi*n2*r2
n1*r1 = n2* r2
Given : r1 = 28 - 4 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- Circumference = 2*pi*r*n [n = no of revolution]
Hence 2*pi*r1*n1 = 2*pi*r2*n2
Given : r1 = 28, n1 = 54
r2 = 14, n2 = ?
Hence: r1*n1 = r2 *n2
28 * 54 = 14 * n2
or, n2 = 108 (c) - 4 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- total distance=no of rotations*circumference
from 1st wheel distance=54*(2pi *28)
for 2nd wheel rotations=distance/circumference of 2nd wheel
=54*(2pi *28)/2pi*14
=108 - 4 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
