Let the age of 11 mem be 11x and the old one be O, new one be Y.
Given
Present : avg= (11x +Y) /12
Before 3 years : avg = (11x+O - 12*3) /12
(Since it is before 3 years all the ages of 12 mem should be decremented by 3 )
Now ; avgs are same so equating above 2 equations gives
11x+Y= 11x + O -36
Y= O-36
Or
O - Y= 36
