The tango is danced in pairs, one man and one woman. At a dance evening no more than 50 people
are present. At one moment 3/4 of the men are dancing with 4/5 of the women. How many people
were dancing at that given moment?
(A) 20 (B) 24 (C) 30 (D) 32 (E) 46
Read Solution (Total 1)
-
- at one moment 3/4th of men and 4/5th of women are dancing in pairs which implies number of men and women at one time is same men/women =4/5*(4/3)=16/15 total 31 which is well satisfied the total number of men and women////further 32*2=62 greater than 50 violates the given condition.
another piece of thinking is that men 3 part and women 4 part are equal in totality means LCM=3*4=12
which eventually gives total men at one dance 3*4=12 and 4*3=12 for women, total 4*4+5*3=31(only value less than 50) - 4 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
