The lowest temperature in the night in a city A is 1/3 more than 1/2 the highest during the day. Sum of the lowest temperature and the highest temperature is 100 degrees. Then what is the low temp?

- Let the high temp be x.
Low temp therefore is (1/2)x + (1/3)*(1/2)x, or simply (4/3)*(1/2)x, which is (4/6)x, or (2/3)x.
The sum is 100...
(2/3)x + x = 100
(5/3)x = 100
x = 60.
So the low temp is 40. - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(9) No(20)

- Let the lowest temp be l and highest temp be h
l=1/3 +1/2h
l+h=100
Solving both the above eqs, l= 33.5deg - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(1)
- Let the high temp be x.
Then the Low temp is given as (1/2)x + (1/3)*(1/2)x
thus the low temp is 2/3x
If the sum is 100
Then (2/3)x + x = 100
(5/3)x = 100
x = 60
Since Low temp is 2/3x , the value is 20 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
