A person with some money spends 1/3 for cloths, 1/5 of the remaining for food and 1/4 of the remaining for travel. He is left with Rs 100/-. How much did he have with him in the beginning?

Let intial amt be x
He spents 1/3 for cloths =x/3 and remaining amt be 2x/3
He spents 1/5 of remaining for food =(2x/3)/5 = 2x/15 and remaining amt be 8x/15
He spents 1/4 of remaining for cloths =(8x/15)/4= 2x/15 and remaining amt be 6x/15
Given remaining amt at last 6x/15 =100

let the money he have with him in the beginning be x
theerfore, (x/3)+(y/5)+(z/4)+100=x
here y=2x/3
z=4y/5=8x/15
hence (x/3)+(2x/15)+(8x/60)+100=x
x-(36x/60)=100
x=250
