A lady has fine gloves and hats in her closet- 26 blue, 30 red, and 56 yellow. The lights are out and it is totally dark. In spite of the darkness, she can make out the difference between a hat and a glove. She takes out an item out of the closet only if she is sure that if it is a glove. How many gloves must she take out to make sure she has a pair of each color?

- In darkness she can make out differences between hat and gloves. So at first she take 56 yellow then 30 red after that she will pick up 2 blue to make sure every pair is complete. So total number is =(56+30+2)=88

- as lights off
first we remove 30 red
then 56 yellow
then 1 yellow 1 blue
and then 2 blue
thus we get pair for all colors
so total = 90 - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(16)
- the minimum number of pair is 26 blue.so she has to take out at least 26 gloves.then the next minimum number is 30 red.so she has to take out 30 gloves.and the highest number of pair is yellow i.e 56..so she has to take out at least 56/2=28 gloves. so total=26+30+28=84 gloves.
