The lengths of three medians of a triangle are 9 cm, 12 cm and 15 cm. The area (in sq.cm) of the triangle is
a)24 b)72 c)48 d)144.
Read Solution (Total 2)

- if length of medians are given then area of triangle
= 4/3 sqr [s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)] where s = (a+b+c)/2 , and a,b,c are medians
so s = (9+12+15)/2 = 18
area = 4/3 sqr [(18)(18-9)(18-12)(18-15)] = 4/3 sqr 1276 = (4/3)*36 = 48
answer c)48 is correct.

- formula is 4/3*sqrt[s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)] and s=(a+b+c)/2 so ans=72
