i row from a to b against the current in 8 hrs and from b to a in 2 hrs if speed of river is 9 m/sec.what is the speed of boat in still water.

• If x m/sec is my speed in still water , then
  (x+9)*2*3600= (x-9)*8*3600
  6x=90
  x= 15 m/sec

  speed of river = 9 m/s = 32.5 km/hr
  Length from a to b = L
  
  Against current => L = (x - 32.5)*8
  towards current => L = (x + 32.5)*2
  
  2x + 65 = 8x - 260
  x = 54.1666 km/hr

• 15 , T=D/S so, downstream speed=D/x+9=2 and upstream=D/x-9=8 after subtracting we get 15m/s
