Maths Puzzle
The thickness of a metallic pipe is 1
cm.
Its inner diameter is 12 cm. What is the volume of metal needed for a pipe of length 1m.
Read Solution (Total 1)
-
- Volume of metal needed = (volume of full pipe) - (volume of inner cylinder)
Diameter of pipe = 12 + 2 = 14 cm
=> radius of pipe = R = 7 cm
Radius of inner cylinder = r = 12/2 = 6 cm
Length of pipe = 100cm
=> volume of metal = pi * R^2 * h - pi * r^2 * h
= pi * h (R^2 - r^2)
= (22/7) * 100 * (7^2 - 6^2)
= 4085.71 cm^3 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
