65. *******4 years before Paul’s age is 3 times the Alice age and the present age of Paul’s is 6 times the Alice , what is the present age of Paul?
Read Solution (Total 2)
-
- Let the age of Paul be x and that of alice be y
Then
x-4 = 3(y-4)
x-3y = -8
and also
x = 6y
so
3y = -8
This means that y is negative but age can't be negative hence the question is wrong. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(0)
- let the present age of alice be x
then before 4 yrs alice age would be x-4
then paul's age =3(x-4)
present age is paul=6*alice
3(x-4)+4=6(x-4)+4
3x-12=6x-24
3x=12
x=4
so present age of paul is 24 years - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(2)
