* Carl is half as old as one of the allen boys
* David is five years older than the younger smith boy
* the total ages of the boys in each family differ by the same amount
today as they did five years ago

Bert and David are Allens sons and Arthur and Carl are Smiths sons. Bert B is the oldest and David D is his youngest brother. Carl C is older brother of Arthur A. Now acc to given conditions.

C-A=3.
B-D=3.
D-C=2
D-A=5
C=1/2B.
Solving these we get C=5,D=7,B=10,A=2.
