A tin of oil was 4/5 full. When 6 bottles of oil were taken out and four bottles of oil were poured into it, it was 3/4 full. How many bottles of oil can the tin contain??
Read Solution (Total 2)
-
- When 6 bottles of oil were taken out and four bottles of oil were poured into then 2 bottles were taken out.
so,
4/5-3/4=1/20
so, 2 bottles took out 1/20 part of the oil.
2 bottles will fill 1/20 part of the tin.
so,
whole tank will be filled by 40 bottles

- when a tin 4/5 full it means it is 80% full (4/5x100=80%)..
Wen 6 bottles are taken out and 4 bottles are again poured, which means effectively 2 bottles are taken out.
After removing 2 bottles the tin is 75% full.
so theese two bottles cause a dip of 5% in total capacity.
2=5%
x=100%
i.e 100*2/5=40 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
