Maths Puzzle
One litre of water is added to 10 litres of a 40% solution of alcohol in water. What is the final strength of the alcohol
Read Solution (Total 2)
-
- given that intially solution is 10litre
so,amount of alcoholin solution=10*40%=4 litre
amount of water=10-4=6 litre
now,1 litre water is added
so amount of water=4+1=5 litre
total solution=10+1=11 l1 litre
so strength of the alcohol in the final solution=4/11(100)=36.36% - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(0)
- since mass of alcohol will be same in both cases(density or molarity may be changed) so that
d1 * v1 =d2 * v2
i.e 40 * 10 = d2 * 11
d2 = 36.36% answer
