So from (8,0) to (13,12)
use the Pythagorean theorem or the distance formula
horizontal distance is 13 - 8 = 5
vertical distance is 12 - 0 = 12
5^2 + 12^2 = x^2
this is a Pythagorean triple 5 - 12 - 13 (feel free to solve it instead)
you get x = 13
