Q. A man has two bags with 10 mangoes each. On his way home he needs to cross five gates which are guarded by watchmen. Every gate the man crosses, that gate's watchmen will take out two mangoes from each bag with mangoes. Can the man take home any mangoes after crossing all five gates. If yes how many and how?

- yes it is possible if the guy keep all the mangoes in a bag...
so from every gate the watch men collect two mangoes total 5*2=10.

- the key to this problem is assumption .we assume the bag can carry only 10 mangoes. if the assumption part is correct the problem is easily solved.
initially the man had 10+10 mangoes . at the end first gate he had 8+8 mangoes . at the end of second gate he had 6+6 mangoes .
after crossing 3 gates , he is left with 4+4 mangoes . he will shift all the mangoes to a single bag . so he is left with 8 . giving 2 mangoes in the next two gates . he can take 4 mangoes to his home - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
