Maths Puzzle
A takes 5 days less than the time taken by B to do some work. They can do the work together in 6 days. Find the number of days in which each of them can do the work separately.
Read Solution (Total 2)
-
- Number of days to complete work for A=10,B=15
If B's 1 day work=1/B,then A's 1 day work=1/(B-5)
Given 1/(B-5) + 1/B = 1/6 or B^2-17B+30=0
(B-15)(B-2)=0,so B=15 So A=10

- ANS: A can do in 10 days ,B can do it in 15 days..
EXPLANATION:
let us assume B takes-> x days
then A takes -> x-5 days
togehter can do work in 6 days..
in one day A & B together can do 1/6 part of work..
(1/x)+(1/(x-5))=1/6..
by expanding above we will get x^2-17x+30=0
by solving above equation we will get x=2 & 15 neglect small value...
hence x=15..So
A can do in-->10 days
B can do in-->15 days
