Profit and Loss
A man sold 12 candies in 10$ had loss of b% then again sold 12 candies at 12$ had profit of b% find the value of b.

- Let the CP be 'x' then:
(x-10)*100/x = b% ----------->1
(12- x) * 100 /x = b% ------->2
(x-10)*100 / x = (12-x)*100 / x
x-10 = 12-x
x = 11
So by Submitting value of x into one of above question (1 or 2) we get b%
which is 9.09 or 9 Approx - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(49) No(6)
- Sry...
the formula is:
(100-loss%):(1stSP)=(100+gain%):(2ndSP)
by using this ...
the value of b will be 9 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(22) No(4)
- by using
(100-loss%):(1stSP)=(100-gain%):(2ndSP)
(100-b):10=(100+b):12
solving this,
b=9 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(7) No(6)
- The c.p must be equidistant from 10 and 12 by obsrvatn.so,it is 11.
so b will be (12-11)/11=1/11 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(6) No(6)
- Initially,when Loss=b%,Selling Price={(100-b)/100}*Cost Price
=>120$={(100-b)/100}*Cost Price
=>Cost Price=12000/100-b
Now,When profit=b%
Selling Price={(100+b)/100}*Cost Price
Now putting Cost price=12000/100-b,
we get b=9.09% - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(6) No(0)
- here profit%=loss%
so,
((c.p-s.p)/c.p)*100=((s.p-c.p)/c.p)*100
=>c.p=11
by keeping this value in profit or loss % formula we get value of b as 9. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(1)
- actual price = [10*(100+b)/100] (when 12 candies in 10$ had loss of b%)
actual price = [12*(100-b)/100] (when 12 candies at 12$ had profit of b%)
[10*(100+b)/100] = [12*(100-b)/100]
=>b=100/11 => b = 9.09

- 120=x-b%; b=132-120=12
144=x+b
2x=264;
x=cp=132 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(5)
- gain=sp-cp
gain%=gain*100/cp
b*100/x=-x+144_________ 1
loss=cp=sp
b*100/x=x-120__________2
sub 1-2 =x=cp=132
b*100/132=12
b=15.84

- c.p=10+b/10
c.p*(100+b)%=12
solving we get b=9.09 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- 100-b corresponds to10/12 then 100+b corresponds to x=>x=6.25
