6 Bangles each of 4cm in daimeter,what is ther minimum diameter of plate required so that each bangles are kept without overlapping(bangles touching each other)?

• the line joining the centre of all the circle will make a regular hexagon of side 4 cm..
  according to the formula,the longest diagonal will be twice of the length of the side of the hexagon=8cm
  this diagonal will be the distance between the 1st and 4th circle..
  now,the circle with diameter 8 cm will pass through the center of all the circles..
  minimum diameter for the plate will be 8+2+2=12 cm

  or, D=6*4=24

  lets say the min dia of the plate is R
  then the circumference of that plate comes out to be - 2*pi*R
  also the circumference of the plate equals 6*4
  equating both the above equations we obtain =>
  2*pi*R = 6*4

  but Sn = n(n+1)/2
  => 2n(2n+1)/2 = 3n(n+1)/2
  => n = 1
  then S3n/Sn = [3n(3n+1)/2]/[n(n+1)/2] = 3*4/1*2 = 6

• whether we take hexagon of 6 bangles or pentagon of 5 bangles with one in center ans will be 12.
  
  for hexagon, distance of one vertex from the center of bigger circle = (length of one side of hexagon/2sin(180/6)) = 4
  Thus, radius of bigger circle = 4+2 = 6, diameter = 12cm
