no of boys = 3x+1 ..........as per first condition and= 4(x-1) as per cond 2.
and hence
no of boys = 3x+1= 4(x-1)

Answer is 21. 5 girls and 16 boys. The main confusion lies whether to think the speaker as a boy or a girl.But as you see, in second case, the number of boys is 4 times which is more than the case 1 where it was 3 times. So it is safe to assume that the speaker is a boy. So, S+3S+1= (S-1)+4(S-1)+1 i.e S=5
