a multiple choice question has 4 options.choosing the correct option earns the student 3 marks and wrong option incurs negative marks, so that if a student chooses randomly his score is 0.suppose a student has eliminated 2 incorrect options. His score is if he chooses randomly among the remaining options -a)1 b)1.5 c)0 d)3
Read Solution (Total 1)
-
- probability to choose correct answer is 1/4 and he get 3 marks for right answer
probability to choose wrong answer is 3/4 and let he loose x marks for wrong answer.
Then
(1/4)*3+(3/4)*x=0 according to question
then x=-1
After that he eliminated 2 incorrect options
So
probability to choose correct answer is 1/2
and wrong answer is 1/2
So his score={(1/2)*3}+{(1/2)*(-1)}=1
So answer is (a)
