  Number of 2‘s at hundreds place(1000 to 9999)=900

  therefore total number of 2‘s =(900+900+900+1000)=3700

  Consider 2 at unit's place. There will be 900 such numbers
  Similarly there will be 900 numbers when 2 will be at ten's and hundred's place.
  And finally when we consider 2 at thousand's place, there will 1000 such numbers.
  Thus 900+900+900+1000=3700 will be the answer.
