Maths Puzzle
A sperical ball of radius 7cm is kept on the floor. It is to be covered by a right cylinder open at one end. Find the volume and the surface area of the cylinder if the cylinder just covers the ball
Read Solution (Total 3)

- As the Cylinder just covers the ball,
so Radius of ball=Radius of the cylinder=r=7
Height of the cylinder=2r=14
Volume of cylinder=Pi*r^2*h=(22/7)*7^2*14=2156 cm^3
Surface area of cylinder=2*Pi*r(r+h)=2*(22/7)*7(7+14)=924 cm^2 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- rad of ball is 7cm.
hence height and rad of cylindr is 7cm is enough to cover the ball.
vol of cylindr= pi*r^2*h= 1077cc
surface area of cylindr= 2pi*r*h= 307.8sq cm.
