A rectangular park 60 m long and 40 m wide has concrete crossroads running in the middle of the park and rest of the park has been used as a lawn. If the area of the lawn is 2109 sq.m, then what is the width of the road.
a) 2.91 m
b) 3m
c) 5.82 m
d) none

- 3m
area of the crossroad=(60*40)-2109 = 291m^2
let the width of crossroad be b
(60*b)+(40*b)-b^2=291
solving the quadratic equation by Sridharachayya's method, we get
b=3m - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(23) No(11)
- d)none
becoz 60*40=2400
2400-2109=291
now the length is same as wellas road so
60*x=291
x=4.85

Shridhar Acharya's formula is a popular root finding formula in mathematics.
If an equation can be represented as follows:
ax^2 + bx + c = 0,
then the roots will be x = (-b + -(b^2 - 4ac)^1/2)/2a - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(0)
