• If speed of water is w and distance covered in each direction is s, then
  
  s= 24*(10-w) = 16*(10+w)
  or
  240-24w=160+16w
  or
  40w=80
  w= 2 kmph.
  Then distance covered in each direction = 24*(10-2) = 24*8=192 kms.
