If a pipe can fill the tank within 6 hrs. But due to leak it takes 30 min more. Now the tank is full then how much time will it take to empty the tank through the leak.?

- Let the time taken by the leakage to empty the tank be X
Now
In 1hr it will fill 1/6th tank
And leakage will empty 1/X tank
Thus we can say that
1/6 - 1/X= 1/6.5
hence the value of X is 78hrs - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(14) No(0)
- 78 hrs
xy/y-x
x = 6 hrs = 360 min
y = 6.30 hrs = 390 min
360*390/390-360
= 468 min = 468/60 = 78 hrs - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(7) No(0)
- Pipe takes 6 hrs to fill the thank= 6
due to leak it took 1/2 hr more = 6 and half=13/2
Work done by pipe to fill in 1 hr= 1/6
work done by leak in 1 hr = 2/13
Hence work done by leak in 1 hr = (1/6)-(2/13) =1/78
Hence it will take 78 hrs to completely empty the tank. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(7) No(0)
