To find a number whether it is a perfect square or not two rules are used. Rule1: the unit digit should not end with 2,3,7,8. i,e. the last digit. Rule 2: The digit sum or the digit root must be equal to 1, 7, 4, 9. eg: 25=2+5=7 is the digit sum.
