A piece of paper is in the shape of rt angld tringl. this paper is cut || to its hypotenuse leaving a smaller triangle with 35% smaller hypotenuse............if the initial area was 54sq units, what is the area of THE NEW smaller triangle....

• as both triangles are similar so:
  hyp1/hyp2=sqrt(area1)/sqrt(area2)
  So,let bigger hyp=x unit,small hyp=(1-35/100)x=65x/100.
  x/(65x/100)=sqrt(54)/sqrt(area2).
  so area2=22.815 sq units.

  a/p=b/q=c/r then area of smaller triangle = 54*13*13/20*20 i.e 22.81

• AS area of a right angled triangle is 1/2 b*h . hypotenuse of triangle1 = 35% of hypotenuse of triangle2 ,area would be also in the same ratio . so 35% of 54 is 18.9 sq.units
