An escalqtor is moving downwards . X takes 40 steps to reach bottom from top and Y takes 60 steps to reach top from bottom . The speeds of X and Y are equal . What is number of steps on the escalator from bottom to the top....?

• X moves with the escalator and Y moves against the escalator....
  both X and Y speeds are same....
  let escalator moves e steps totally....
  hence 40+e=60-e
  2e=20 ie...e=10 steps...
  total no of steps in escalator are 40+e=40+10=50steps
