  explanation-
  divide the box in 4 rows..each row having 16 boxes of edge 2m... now 1st and 4th row are same..similarly,2nd and 3rd row are same..now in 1st row,only 4 boxes have one side coloured,in 2nd row 8 boxes...since 2nd and 3rd are same ,1st and 4th too..so 4th row also has 4 boxes of 1 colour, similarly 3rd row has 8boxes...total comes out 24..

• Big cube volume=8*8*8
  each small cube volume=2*2*2
  No of small cubes=(8*8*8)/(2*2*2)=64
  stack size is then 4*4*4 cubes of 2 m edge.
  On each side 4 face in centre is coloured one sided.
  So total no is=6*4= 24 cubes
  N.B.- also know that total 4*2=8 nos of cubes are colourless
