4 line drawn parallel to base of triangle such that they are equidistant,If area of the most bottom part is 4sq cm.find area of triangle?
Read Solution (Total 11)

- let x be the distance between two inter section points on the same arm of the triangle.now as 4 lines are drawn so each arm = 5x
therefore as per question, (root3)/4[(5x)^2-(4x)^2]=4 => x^2=16/(9*root(3))
therefore area of the triangle = ((root3)/4)*25*(16/9root3)=100/9 sqr cm - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(12) No(6)
- Correction @Shubrajeet, triangle is NOT eqilateral
A diagram for priyanka

/ | This triangle area =y

The bottom area is 4 cm (surrounded by lines)
Now let upper area (without the bottom last) be y
So, area of total triangle must be y*((5/4)^2)=25y/16
so bottom area=25y/16-y=9y/16
9y/16=4
y=16*4/9=64/9
total area y+4=100/9 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(4)
- if we draw a triangle as specified in question..then there will be five parts..
starting from the top if we draw small triangles then no. of triangles will be in
1st part----1 small triangle
2nd part----3 small triangles(2 upright+1 inverted triangle)
3rd part----5 small triangles
4th part----7 small triangles
5th part----9 small triangles
so given, last part i.e. area of 9 small triangles=4 sq cm
therefore area of 1 triangle=4/9
adding all triangle=25
therefore area of all triangles= 4/9*25=100/9 sq.cm - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(0)

- Oh my god,according to my common sence ,it is not possible to caluculate area of triangle yar.Because they didnot mention what type of triangle it is? and they didnot give atleast one side of a triangle.

- in this case area of upper part to area of lower part is 1:3 so
x 1 4
- = - then x = - hence area of triangle is 4/3
4 3 3

- 1/2*base*prep.....area directly propotional to prependicular as base is same...prependicular is 4 times so original area 1sqcm
