How many kgs. of wheat costing Rs. 5 per kg must be mixed with 45 kg of rice costing Rs. 6.40 per kg so that 20% gain may be obtained by selling the mixture at Rs. 7.20 per kg ?
Read Solution (Total 7)
-
- answer = 18
soloution :-
x kg of wheat costs =x*5=5x rs
a/c to q,
total cost price of wheat and rice=5x+(45*6.40)
sp of mixture so that 20% gain can be achieved=(x kg wheat+45kg rice)*7.20
therefore frm d q,
cp+20%of cp=sp with 20% gain
(5x+45*6.40)+(20/100(5x+45*6.40))=(x+45)*7.20
x= 18 kg answer
x=18

- Let x kg's of wheat be added.
So,
1.20(45*6.40 +x*5) = 7.20 ( 45+x)
=> 1.20*x = 21.6
=> x = 18 kg of wheat. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(23) No(2)
- 18kg
Mean price=(7.2*100)/120=6 Rs
Ratio of wheat to rice= (0.4):1 = 2:5
2:5 :: x:45
5x=90
x=18 kg - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(16) No(1)
- S.P of 1kg mixture=7.20,gain=20%
C.p of 1kg mixture=(100/120)*7.20=6rs
By alligation,
The ratio of 1st & 2nd kind of wheat becomes=2:5
Let x kg of 1st king be mixed with 45kg of wheat of 2nd kind.
Then,2:5=x:45
x=18kg ans - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(0)
- by alligation rule
wheat cost per kg rice cost per kg
5 6.40
mix. cost per kg
6 (20% gain means 6 cp)
0.40 (6.40-6) 1 (6-5)
let x kg of wheat is mixed then their ratio is
x 45
so
0.40/1=x/45
solve we get x=18 (ans) - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- by allegation theoerm
5 6.40 rs
6(cp of the mixture)
2 5
ratio of wheat to rice 2:5
total mixture 5*45/7=63
so wheat in kg 63-45= 18kg ANS
