Q. The price of sugar increases by 20%, by what % house-wife should reduce the consumption of sugar so that expenditure on sugar can be same as before.

• Suppose 1000g buy in 100
  Then new cost for 1000g is 120Rs
  Now in 1 Rs-->1000/120 gm
  In 100 Rs--> 1000*100/120
  =833.33
  So new quantity in 100 Rs 833.3
  So reduction in consumption=1000-833.33=166.66gm
  So % decrease in consumption 166.66*100/1000=16.66%
