a) 280
b) 352
c) 360
d) 300
Read Solution (Total 14)
-
- S.P= 360 Rs.
If Profit = 12% then 1.12*C.P = S.P
1.12*C.P = 360
C.P= 321.43 Rs.
And If Profit=12 Rs. then C.P= 348 RS.

- x*(120/100)=360 so X is cost price and ans is 300.

- sp=400*.90=360
we know that,
profit=sp-cp
so,
cp=sp-profit
360-12=348(ans)...
options are incorrect.... - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(12) No(2)
- printed price of a book is 400
10% of 400 is 40
now S.P is 400-40=360
assuming 12 as a unit price
cp=360-12=348
assuming 12 as a percentage
cost of book c.p=100/(100+gain%)*S.P
C.P=(100/120)*360
c.p=300
- 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(6) No(11)
- 400 is M.P
and 10% discount (400-40(10% of 400))=360.
C.P=((100/100+gain %)*S.P)
C.p=((100/112)*360)=321.4.
that is ans but not given the option so near by 300 so
ans d is correct - 8 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(2)

- as given 10 % of 400 =40
so the book will be 400-10=360
so on selling the book for 360 still the bookseller got 12 % profit
cp=(100/100+profit%)*cp
(100/112)*360

- the Printed price is clearly a Marked Price, as it is been printed for the haggle free C.P
as S.P=M.P*(100-discount)%
S.P= 400*(90)/100=360
now as, profit=12
Profit=S.P-C.P
C.P= S.P- Profit
C.P= 360-12
348 not in option
but if i take profit as %ge, it is somewhat nearer to 359.56 as C.P
so, C will be correct! - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(4)
- DATA GIVEN IN QUESTION IS WRONG 12 should be 20 %.
S.P= 360 Rs.
If Profit = 12% then 1.12*C.P = S.P
1.12*C.P = 360
C.P= 321.43 Rs.
And If Profit=12 Rs. then C.P= 348 RS. - 5 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(1)
- Lets Rs x be the cost price of book.
Given, printed price = Rs 400
Bookseller offer discount of 10% = 0.1 × 400= Rs. 40
Therefore, new selling price = Rs. 360
Condition given : He still earn profit of 12% .
∴ x times frac{120}{100}x×
100
120
= Rs. 360
x = Rs. 360 times frac{100}{120}360×
120
100
= Rs.300 - 2 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
