• the series can be break as follows..
  1,3,7,15,? and 2,6,14,32..here the different two consecutive numbers in first breaked series is follows a trend 2^1,2^2,2^3 and hence next term in first series is the number greater than 2^4 than 15 i.e. 31

• A bit late, but here goes. Try writing numbers in a squared spiral, first two numbers being 1 and 2. Each next number should be the sum of the numbers directly next to it, either laterally or diagonally. By that logic, the next number in the series is 35, followed by 37.
