Two trains for mumbai leave Delhi at 6 a.m. and 6:45 am and travel at 100 kmph and 136 kmph respectively.How many kilometers from Delhi will the two trains be together?

- 100 t =136(t-3/4)
t=17/6
100* 17/6 = 283.33 ans - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(59) No(3)
- The slower train travels 45 minutes or 3/4 earlier. Distance travelled in 3/4 hr @ 100 km/hr = 100 × 3/4 = 75 km.
Now let the distance travelled by slower train be x km when the two trains meet.
So time taken by slower train to travel dist, x = x / 100 hr.
The fast train travels a distance of ( 75 + x) km.
Time required to travel this distance = (75 + x) / 136
Both the times are equal.
Therefore x / 100 = (75 + x) /136 -------- solving this
136 x = 100 x + 7500
36 x = 7500
x = 7500 / 36 = 208.333
So the trains will meet at 208.333 + 75 = 283.33 km from Delhi. - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(36) No(2)
- in 45min the first train would travel 100*(45/60)=75km.
So,the second trian would take time=(75/36)hr....... the relative speed=36.
Therefore they would meet at (75/36)*136=283.33 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(17) No(1)
- 100t=136(t-45/60)
t=2.833 or 2:50min
as we know dis=speed*time
=100*2.8333
=283.33 ans - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(7) No(0)
- let total distance be=x
x/100-x/136=45/60
on solving,
x=283.33km - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(5) No(0)

- Let the two trains meet at x hr after the departure of the first train...
1st train covers=100*x kms
2nd train covers=136*(x-45/60) kms
100x=136*(x-3/4)
x=17/6
distance covered by the 1st train(for 2nd train its also the same)=100*17/6 kms=283.33 kms - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(2) No(0)
- The slower train travels 45 minutes or 3/4hr earlier. Distance travelled in 3/4 hr @ 100 km/hr = 100 × 3/4 = 75 km. now by applying relative motion formula we have 75/(136-100)=75/36=2.833.. i.e after 2.833 hrs the two trains wil meet and the distance travelled by slower train in 2.833 hrs is 100*2.833=283.33 km from delhi the trains will meet together..

- distance traveled by first train in the first 45 min = 100*45/60
to meet it the second train will have to cover the above distance at relative speed of 36km/h
therefore
t= (100*45/60)/36 ...............(1)
distance at which they meet = (1)*136km/hr
d=550m - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(4)

- Distance already covered by train which left delhi at 6am= 100km/hr * 45/60hrs = 75km.
relative speed of the two trains= (136-130)km/hr = 36.
therefore, distance of the two trains from delhi =time*speed
= * speed of the 2nd train)
= (75km/36km/hr)*136km/hr= 283.33km - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
