Anoop managed to draw 5 cricle of equal radii with their centres on the diagonal of a square such that the two extreme circles touch two sides of the square and each middle circle touches two circles on either side. Find the ratio of the side of the square to radius of the circles. you may assume that square root of 2 is 1.4

- its an approximate solution. Let rqdius be 'r' and square side be'a'
for 5 circles on the diagonal 5* circle diameter= diagonal of circle
=> 5*(2r)= (sqrt 2) * a ,,,,,,,,,,(since for square diagonal = sqrt 2* side)
=> a/r = 10/1.4= 7.14 ans. - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(8) No(9)
- for circle=(8r+2r*sqrt(2)) and for square=a*sqrt(2)
a/r=(4*sqrt(2)+2)/1=7.656 - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(4) No(0)
- let r=radius of circle and a=side of square
10r+2(sqrt(2)-1)r=sqrt2*a
on solving it
ans will be(4sqrt(2)+2):1 - 13 years agoHelpfull: Yes(1) No(1)
