A jar full of whisky contains 40% alcohol. A part of this whisky is replaced by another containing 19% alcohol and now the percentage of alcohol was found to be 26%. The quantity of whisky replaced is:

ANSWER : 2/3 of whisky of first jar is replaced.

SOLUTION :

Let x part of whisky removed.
whisky removed = 40x/100
whisky added = 19x/100
Total change in whisky 40/100 - 40x/100 + 19x/100
after Equating
40/100 - 40x/100 + 19x/100 = 26/100
Or, x = 2/3
