- if we draw the path travel on x-y plane
final position will be 3km NORTH from starting point
OR
let x starts walking from origin(0,0)towards east
after 4km he will be at(4,0)
turn left i.e. north and walks 3km,will be at (4,3)
again turn left i.e. west and walks 4 km,
so he will finally reach at (0,3)
thus he walked from (0,0)to (0,3)
hence x will be at 3km NORTH from starting point.
(b) is corret.

- on plotting the distances in a x-y plane according to the direction sense. The plane becomes a rectangle with its two opposite sides of 4 km and one beside is 3 km respectively and the side opposite to it is the distance left from the starting point.

- You can solve this puzzle by making a diagram.
let starting point be 'a'.
let km be cm
draw 4cm in forward directionand name that point 'B'
draw 3cm in left direction and point it 'c'
draw 4cm towards you point it 'd'
measure A to D .
it is 3cm=3km
