The average of x, y and z is 30, and the average of x and y is 20. What is the value of z?
(a) 10
(b) 20
(c) 40
(d) 50
Read Solution (Total 11)
-
- average of x,y,z=(x+y+z)/3=30(given)
so x+y+z=90
also,average of x,y=(x+y)/2=20
so x+y=40
substract 2nd eqn from 1st
we get z=90-40=50 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(9) No(0)
- The solution can be derived as:
Average of x,y and z = 30 i.e. (x+y+z)/3=30 => z= 90-(x+y)....1
Average of x and y = 20 i.e. (x+y)/2=20 => x+y=40......2
Substitute 2 into 1, we get
z=90-40=50 [Answer]

- avg of x,y,z=30 so sum will 30*3
avg of X,y =20 so sum will 20*2
so z=90-40
=50;

- here the value of (x+y)/2=20 and (x+y+z)/3 = 90
so x+y becomes = 40 and x+y+z becomes =90
therefore x+y+z=90
so z =50 - 11 years agoHelpfull: Yes(3) No(3)
- d)50 .. x+y+z=90 and we get x+y=20*2=40 so z=90-40=50

- 50.
(x+y+z)/3=30
and (x+y)/2=20
so x+y=40
therefore, (40+z)/3=30
so, z=90

- 50...x+y+z=90
X+y=40 - 10 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- x+y+z=90
x+y=40
z=50 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- Option D - 50
- 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
- if the average of X, Y and Z is 30
there for the sum is 90/3=30
so the value of X= 20, Value of Y=20 their average is 40/2 = 20
Therefore the value of Z = 50

- Avg of (x+y+z)/3=30
x+y+z=90
In the same way( x+y)/2=20
x+y=40
so z=50 - 9 years agoHelpfull: Yes(0) No(0)
