A train leaves station A towards station B,24 km away and has to reach B in half an hour .if travels at 45 km/hr for the forst quarter of an hour ,at what speed must it run for the rest of the journey.

• Distance covered in first quarter of an hour i.e in 1/4 hour=45*(1/4) km
  Remaining distance=24-(45/4)=51/4
  Remaining time=1/2-1/4=1/4 hour
  So,required speed=(51/4)/(1/4)=51 km/hr (Ans)

  in 1st quarter oo hour it will travel 45*1/4 km that is 11.25km.....
  the remaining 12.75 km is to be travelled with aspeed of 12.75/(1/4)=51kmph
